Palghar stretch of Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway to stay closed for heavy vehicles on April 15 & 16

Light motor vehicles and other essential services will be allowed to continue as usual.

The movement of heavy vehicles on the Palghar stretch of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway will be prohibited for two days, starting from the afternoon of April 15 until the night of Sunday, April 16. During said time, light motor vehicles and essential services will be allowed to use the stretch of the highway as usual.

The stretch is closed for Maharashtra Bhushan Award ceremony

The reason behind the Palghar stretch of the highway being closed for certain vehicles is the Maharashtra Bhushan Award ceremony, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday, April 16 in Navi Mumbai's Corporate Park.

Nearly 20 lakh people from across the state will be in attendance for the ceremony, which will see the revered social worker and reformer Dattatreya Narayan Dhramadhikari being conferred the Maharashtra Bhushan award.

Due to the huge turnout expected at the event, heavy vehicles coming in from Gujarat towards Thane and Navi Mumbai will be prohibited on the stretch to enable free flow of traffic for attendees.
