WR to launch new Ahmedabad-Udaipur Vande Bharat Express | Know details
Western Railway is set to launch a new Vande Bharat Express connecting Ahmedabad to Udaipur, likely by late January or February. The move comes after completing electrification work on the Ahmedabad–Himmatnagar–Udaipur route.
The train will operate six days a week, except on Tuesdays. It will depart from Udaipur at 6:10 AM, arriving in Ahmedabad at 10:25 AM, and return from Ahmedabad at 5:45 PM, reaching Udaipur by 10:00 PM. The service will have a brief two-minute stop at Himmatnagar during both journeys. In Ahmedabad, the train will start and end at Asarwa railway station.
With 8 air-conditioned chair car coaches, the train promises a faster, four-hour travel time compared to the five-hour road journey. Udaipur, already linked to Jaipur and Agra via Vande Bharat trains, sees this addition as a boost for tourism. Although the official notification is yet to be issued, the Railway Board has verbally informed Western Railway and instructed them to begin preparations. According to railway sources, nearly all preparations for the train have been completed.
