Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation approves ₹15,502 crore budget for 2025-26: Key highlights

Citizens paying property tax in advance will be able to avail a rebate of up to 15%.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced its annual budget for the financial year 2025-26, focusing on infrastructure, sustainability, and public welfare. Initially proposed at ₹14,001 crore, the budget was increased by ₹1,501 crore based on public suggestions, bringing the final amount to ₹15,502 crore.

A major highlight is the 12% rebate for advance taxpayers, encouraging timely payments. Those who have paid advance tax consistently for three consecutive years will receive a 14% rebate (12% + 2%). Additionally, taxpayers who make their payments online will get an extra 1%, bringing the total rebate to 15%.

AMC Budget key highlights

The AMC budget incorporates various developmental projects to enhance urban infrastructure, improve public spaces, and promote sustainability.

  • A ‘Namo Van’ will be developed at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium at a cost of ₹21 crore.

  • 51 white-topping roads will be constructed at a cost of ₹227 crore.

  • Three roads near CG Road will be developed at a cost of ₹97 crore.

  • Areas surrounding 20 metro stations will be developed at a cost of ₹270 crore.

  • 22 new gardens will be developed in Ahmedabad.

  • The Bhadra Plaza premises will be redeveloped at a cost of ₹10 crore.

  • Five new urban health centers will be built.

  • A new Sports Science Centre will be established at SVP under the budget provisions.

  • Five new railway bridges will be constructed in Ahmedabad.

  • The Iskcon Bridge will be developed at a cost of ₹250 crore.

  • A flyover bridge at Silver Star Crossroads will be built at a cost of ₹80 crore.

  • An overbridge at Panchvati Junction will be constructed at a cost of ₹90 crore.

Public transport & infrastructure developments

  • RTO will be developed as a multi-transport hub.

  • 120 new electric buses will be procured.

  • 100 charging stations for electric buses will be set up in Jamalpur.

  • An integrated model terminus will be developed in Ghuma.

  • A mobile app will be introduced for AMTS daily tickets.

As the city moves towards rapid urbanisation, these investments are expected to pave the way for a smarter, greener, and more efficient Ahmedabad.
