AMC plans vertical green walls under metro and overbridges

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated a tender for the development of vertical green walls under metro and overbridges across the city. This project aims to enhance the city's greenery and improve air quality.

The tender invites proposals for the supply and installation of roto-molded U-shape modules, with a one-year maintenance contract included.

Riverfront to get international food market and iconic yoga centre

The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation has unveiled plans to develop an international food market, an iconic yoga centre, a five-star hotel, a shopping mall, and high-rise office buildings along the riverfront.

The international food market, set to be located in front of BJ Park near Nehru Bridge, will offer a variety of global cuisines. This development is part of a broader effort to enhance the riverfront's cultural and commercial appeal.

Strict safety measures for amusement parks and gaming zones

In response to the recent Rajkot TRP Game Zone fire tragedy, the Ahmedabad police commissioner has introduced stringent safety measures for amusement parks and gaming zones.

Under the new regulations, any venue hosting 200 or more visitors must have a qualified fire officer on-site every day. This officer will be responsible for fire safety oversight and conducting regular mock drills to ensure preparedness in case of emergencies.

AMC halts plan for food court at Vastrapur Lake Amphitheatre

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) standing committee has decided to pause its plan to replace the existing amphitheatre at Vastrapur Lake with a new food court. The proposal faced significant opposition from local artists and cultural groups, who argued that the amphitheatre is one of the few remaining cultural venues in the city.

Devang Dani, chairman of the AMC standing committee, acknowledged these concerns and confirmed that the decision would be reconsidered.
