Ahmedabad has officially surpassed its 100% seasonal rainfall mark, receiving 15mm of rain on Thursday. This marks the third consecutive year that the city has received its normal annual rainfall. Over the past five years, 2022 saw the highest seasonal rainfall at 127%, while 2021 recorded the lowest at 71%.

Yesterday, the city experienced cloudy skies, with showers in several areas. Earlier this week, heavy rainfall resulted in the city accumulating 354mm in just seven days, bringing the total rainfall from 57% on August 22 to 99.9% by the morning of August 29.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high alert for Gujarat, with a deep depression over Saurashtra and Kutch expected to develop into a cyclonic storm, possibly named Cyclone Asna.

Districts such as Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Kutch are on heightened alert. If the storm intensifies, it could bring significant rainfall to areas including Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Morbi, Navsari, Valsad, and Daman in the coming days.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is progressing steadily in Maharashtra, with key developments including near-completion of geotechnical investigations and mountain tunnel work. Approximately 265 open foundations have been completed, and foundation work at Boisar and Virar stations is underway. A 100-meter steel bridge was recently installed near Silvassa, marking another milestone for the project.

Gujarat has completed three rounds of the engineering admission process, with 22,183 students securing seats through the online system. Starting today, an offline admission process will begin for vacant government and private engineering seats, including those unreported in previous rounds.
