Ahmedabad Railway Station is undergoing a major transformation under the Amrut Bharat Station Scheme, integrating modern infrastructure while preserving the city's rich architectural heritage. Several innovative features are being incorporated into the redevelopment project, with a strong focus on showcasing the city's rich heritage in its design.

The revamped station will feature design elements inspired by iconic landmarks such as the Jhulta Minar and motifs from Ahmedabad’s renowned kite festival, ensuring a cultural reflection in its new look.

The station to feature modern infrastructure & a design with heritage elements

According to Western Railway, the redevelopment is scheduled for completion by June 2027. The station’s new design has been inspired by the Modhera Sun Temple, blending historical aesthetics with contemporary facilities. Once completed, Ahmedabad Railway Station will be transformed into a world-class transport hub.

The Union Minister for Railways, during a recent project review, emphasized that public feedback has played a crucial role in shaping the redevelopment plan. He stated, "Ahmedabad is a city of great historical and cultural importance. The redevelopment of the railway station will incorporate architectural elements inspired by the city's heritage, including the swinging minarets, toran entrance gate, and motifs from the kite festival."

The construction will employ high-strength materials and rapid building techniques to minimize disruptions to ongoing train services. Vaishnaw assured that train cancellations would be kept to a minimum despite the project's large scale.

The redeveloped station will prioritise passenger convenience with expanded waiting lounges, advanced ticketing systems, retail centers, and improved information services. The central concourse will feature amenities such as restrooms, drinking water facilities, food courts, retail shops, kiosks, and baby feeding rooms, ensuring a more comfortable travel experience.
