Ahmedabad's Kalupur railway station to get a facelift; revamp work to start from April end

The design of the Ahmedabad Junction will be based on the Modhera Sun Temple of Gujarat.

Indian Railways is gearing up to work on the redevelopment of numerous stations in different districts of Gujarat. The expansive statewide project will kickstart along with the redevelopment of the Ahmedabad Junction i.e. Kalupur Railway Station which is likely to begin by April end.

Last year, a budget of ₹10,000 crore was approved by the union cabinet for the redevelopment of railway stations in New Delhi, Gujarat and Mumbai. It was further stated by the Railway Minister that the station design of Ahmedabad Junction will be themed on the Modhera Sun Temple of Gujarat.

Apart from the Kalupur station, a total of 86 stations in the state including 5 other stations in Ahmedabad will recieve a makeover. The tender for the redevelopment work of the Ahmedabad station has already been floated by the authority while the contract will be assigned by February 20.

Other five stations in Ahmedabad that will get a facelift, include- Sabarmati, Candhigram, Maninagar, Chandlodia and Asarwa.
