Ahmedabad’s Kankaria Zoo has added a new pair of tigers and five pairs of black bucks via an exchange programme with Gwalior’s Gandhi Zoological Park, Madhya Pradesh. Approved by the Central Zoo Authority (CZA), this exchange aims to enhance conservation efforts and biodiversity at both zoos.

As part of the agreement, Kankaria Zoo sent 24 birds and reptiles to Gwalior. In return, the tigers and black bucks arrived in Ahmedabad on the 16th of February and are currently under a mandatory one-month quarantine, as per CZA regulations.

The arrival of these new animals is expected to boost visitor interest while contributing to wildlife conservation. Zoo officials highlighted that such exchanges play a vital role in maintaining genetic diversity and improving animal welfare. Once the quarantine period ends, visitors will have the opportunity to see these majestic creatures in their new habitat.
