Ahmedabad's Sardar, Gandhi, and Dadhichi bridges to get permanent decorative lighting

Bridges to get theme-based sculptural railings and lightweight decorative elements.

Ahmedabad’s Sardar Bridge, Gandhi Bridge, and Dadhichi Bridge will soon feature permanent decorative lighting as part of a ₹65.22 crore project announced by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The initiative aims to enhance the visual appeal of these key structures with theme-based sculptural railings and lightweight decorative elements.

Before implementation, AMC will conduct a thorough structural inspection of all three bridges. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

Currently, AMC installs temporary lighting on flyovers, river bridges, and public spaces during Diwali. This year, the Ahmedabad Shopping Festival also saw extensive decorative illumination across the city. A previous attempt to introduce permanent lighting on heritage structures remained incomplete. With this initiative, Ahmedabad’s bridges over the Sabarmati River will feature year-round illumination and artistic enhancements, contributing to the city’s urban aesthetics.
