The concerts featured standout moments, including Chris Martin's Republic Day tribute to India on January 26, a personalised song dedicated to cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, iconic Coldplay classics, and a stunning fireworks display. Coldplay's 2nd concert in Ahmedabad makes history with nearly 1.34 lakh attendees!

British band Coldplay concluded its Music of the Spheres World Tour in India, with a historic second concert at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on the 26th of January,after its first event on the 25th of January. The event witnessed a staggering attendance of nearly 1.34 lakh fans, making it the most-attended musical concert in Asia, as per reports.

The evening began on a heartfelt note as lead singer Chris Martin greeted the crowd with a warm Hindi welcome, saying, “Dhanyawaad pyaare doston. Aap sabka bohot dhanyawaad ki aapne hume yaha perform karne ka mauka diya.” The energy in the world's largest stadium, with a capacity of 1.25 lakh, was electric as the audience eagerly awaited the band’s performance!

Lead singer Chris Martin pays a Republic Day tribute by singing "Vande Mataram" and "Maa tujhe salaam"

Chris Martin added a personal touch to the concert by acknowledging India's 76th Republic Day. He wished a jubilant “Happy Republic Day, India!” before performing the patriotic anthem "Vande Mataram". The stadium lit up with phone flashlights as fans joined in, creating a magical, unforgettable moment. To the delight of the audience, Martin also sang a few lines of A.R. Rahman’s "Maa Tujhe Salaam".

Expressing his gratitude, Martin shared, “We are so happy to be here, so grateful to be here. Happy Republic Day to everybody in India. We know how lucky we are to play in your beautiful country, especially on a day when all the planets are aligned, and we have the best audience in the best stadium in the whole wide world.”

The band delivered an electrifying setlist, including fan favourites like "Yellow," "Sky Full of Stars," "Hymn for the Weekend," "Viva La Vida," "Paradise," and "All My Love." The crowd sang along in unison, creating an extraordinary atmosphere of connection and joy.

Among the notable attendees was Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, who enjoyed the concert from the audience. In a touching gesture, Chris Martin dedicated a song to the fast bowler.

Show ends with grand fireworks, the final show of Coldplay’s India leg

Both the Ahmedabad shows ended on a high note with a breathtaking fireworks display, lighting up the city skyline. As the pyrotechnics illuminated the stage on the 26th of January, the screen behind Martin displayed a powerful message: “Believe in Love.”This marked the final show of Coldplay’s India leg, following three sold-out concerts in Mumbai!

The show positioned Ahmedabad as the new frontier of live entertainment

The concert’s monumental success drew widespread attention, including a post from Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group. On X Mahindra highlighted the event’s significance in placing the city and India firmly on the global map for live entertainment. “The moment when the world discovered that India is the new frontier of live entertainment… Coldplay. Ahmedabad,” he wrote.
