The ongoing construction efforts by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai High-Speed Rail Corridor have reached a significant juncture. In recent developments, NHSRCL announced the successful completion of the bridge over the Auranga river in Valsad district.

This achievement marks the successful construction of the fifth river bridge as part of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR). Prior to this, bridges over the Par, Purna, Mindhola, and Ambika rivers had already been completed, highlighting the progress of the project.

With a total of 24 river bridges in the MAHSR corridor, the aim is to ensure smooth connectivity along its route. Notably, out of these bridges, 20 are situated in Gujarat while the remainder cross the state of Maharashtra. The longest bridge, spanning 1.2 kilometers, crosses the Narmada river, showcasing the engineering prowess of the project. Additionally, a bridge of significant length—2.28 kilometers—is planned over the Vaitarna river in Maharashtra.

The Ahmedabad-Mumbai High-Speed Rail Corridor holds the promise of bolstering connectivity between two major economic and cultural centers of India, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Beyond its transportation implications, the project underscores the country's capacity to undertake complex infrastructural undertakings. 

Once completed, it will be the country’s first high-speed rail line, resulting in a considerable reduction in travel time between the two cities from 6 hours 35 minutes to about 2 hours. This transformative project is being implemented by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), with the assistance of the Japanese government, at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.1 lakh crore.
