Ahmedabad is set to witness infrastructural advancements following the Gujarat state budget for 2025-26. A key highlight is the allocation of ₹350 crore for expanding the Sabarmati Riverfront from Ahmedabad to GIFT City and Gandhinagar, marking the next phase in India’s longest riverfront project. Announcing the budget in the state assembly, the Finance Minister stated that the second phase of the Riverfront Development is in progress, with five additional phases planned for completion over the next three years.
Public transport is another major beneficiary, with ₹2,730 crore earmarked for the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro’s second phase, including enhancements to the Surat Metro project. Additionally, ₹1,128 crore has been set aside for 2,060 new buses, including 400 midi buses, to improve public transportation.
The budget also prioritises educational and scientific development. Science City will see new Astronomy, Space Science, Aviation Defence, and Digital Future galleries, while the Ahmedabad Deep-Sea Project will receive funding for expansion.
