Ahmedabad is set to welcome Gujarat’s largest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) at White House in Bapunagar, with the facility expected to become operational by June this year. The new centre, capable of handling 1,500 applicants daily, will replace the existing Mithakhali PSK, which has been struggling with space constraints and inadequate parking.
The Mithakhali centre, which processes around 800 applications daily, will be shut down once the Bapunagar facility opens. However, the passport centre at Vijay Char Rasta, located just 3 kilometers away, will continue to operate. The new PSK will feature 30-35 counters for document submission and fingerprinting, 10 counters for verification, and 6 counters for final approvals, ensuring a smoother and faster process for applicants.
The Bapunagar PSK will significantly benefit residents of eastern Ahmedabad, including areas like Naroda, Isanpur, Maninagar, Nikol, and Vastral, as well as applicants from Kheda, Anand, Nadiad, and Himmatnagar. Previously, these residents had to travel to the western part of the city, often losing an entire day due to long queues and overcrowding at the Mithakhali centre.
The move to Bapunagar aims to address the challenges faced at the Mithakhali Centre, including limited seating, long waiting times, and parking issues. With its larger capacity and modern infrastructure, the new PSK is expected to reduce the backlog of pending applications and provide a more efficient and comfortable experience for passport seekers.
