In a first, metro flyover pillar in Ahmedabad gets a green makeover with a vertical garden!

Such vertical gardens to also come up near NaMo Stadium & Pakwan Circle.

Zeal Jani

In a unique initiative to address the growing pollution in Ahmedabad, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has introduced a vertical garden project. Its aim is to transform the city's urban spaces like flyover pillars into green spaces! Inspired by Surat’s successful vertical garden concept, this initiative will help improve air quality and beautify the city.

The pilot project has begun at Helmet Circle, where saplings have been planted around one of the pillars under the flyover. These plants will be cared for daily and are expected to grow into creepers, covering the pillar in a lush green layer. The project’s goal is to reduce pollution and provide more greenery in the city.

Following the success of this pilot, AMC plans to extend the vertical garden initiative to other key locations, including near the Narendra Modi Stadium and Pakwan Circle. This initiative is part of AMC’s ongoing efforts to tackle pollution and create more green spaces in urban areas.
