Ahmedabad is gearing up for the much-anticipated third One-Day International (ODI) between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium on the 12th of February. To ensure smooth traffic flow and public convenience, Ahmedabad Traffic Police and Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) have announced road closures, alternative routes, and extended metro services for the day.

Metro train services extended: Trains will be available every 8 minutes

To accommodate the increased number of spectators, GMRC has announced an extension of metro train services in Ahmedabad on February 12. The metro will operate with higher frequency up to midnight, ensuring a convenient return journey for fans. Metro trains will be available every 8 minutes on the routes Motera to APMC and Thaltej Gam to Vastral Gam. Extended metro services will run from 10:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

Entry to the metro after 10:00 PM will only be allowed from Motera Stadium and Sabarmati Metro Station. Passengers returning after the match must purchase special paper tickets in advance from select stations, including Nirant Cross Road, Apparel Park, Kalupur, Old High Court, Thaltej, Motera, Sabarmati, Ranip, Vadaj, and Jivraj Metro Stations.

Traffic restrictions and alternative routes announced

In an effort to manage the expected surge in traffic around the stadium, the Ahmedabad Traffic Police has issued an advisory regarding road closures and diversions. The road from Janpath T to Motera Gam T through the stadium's main gate and Krupa Residency, will remain closed for vehicles.

To ease congestion, alternative routes have been suggested, including the route from Tapovan Circle to Prabodh Raval Circle via ONGC Cross Roads, Visat T Junction, Janpath T, and Power House Cross Roads, as well as the route from Krupa Residency to Apollo Circle via Status Cross Roads and Bhat-Koteshwar Road.

So, commuters and attendees are advised to plan accordingly.
