E-shoppers in tier-2 cities like Ahmedabad are willing to spend more per purchase than those in tier-1 cities such as Mumbai.

According to a new IIM Ahmedabad survey, online shoppers from cities like Ahmedabad, that are termed tier-2 cities, spend more per purchase than those from metros like Mumbai and Delhi. To be exact, e-shoppers in tier-2 cities spend 60% more than those in tier-1 cities.

Furthermore, the survey also identified a sharp shift to online shopping in the last three years, which was driven by the pandemic. In fact, in this IIM survey, more than 66% of respondents reported that they have shifted to online shopping in just the last three years.
