Metro News: Direct Ahmedabad-GIFT City trains from Feb 15, increased frequency & new bus services

Commuters will no longer need to switch trains.

From the 15th of February, metro commuters travelling between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will no longer need to switch trains at Motera or Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), as the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) introduces direct metro services. The new route, connecting APMC, Motera, GNLU, and GIFT City, will also operate on a trial basis with increased frequency to enhance passenger convenience.

GMRC has received approval from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety to implement these changes, ensuring smoother travel between the two cities. Previously, passengers had to change trains at Motera for Sector 1 and at GNLU for GIFT City, often facing delays due to an 80-minute train interval to Motera and a 5-10 minute waiting time at GNLU.

To improve connectivity, GMRC will also start bus services every 30 minutes between GNLU station and GIFT City offices, with a stop at Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU). The last metro from Gandhinagar’s Sector-1 Metro station will now leave at 19:21, giving commuters more travel options.
