Ahmedabad's under-construction international-standard sports complex in the Naranpura area will be named Veer Savarkar Sports Complex. The project, a part of the city's infrastructural upgrade for the 2036 Olympics, is expected to be completed by March 2025, with 95% of the work already finished.

The project, initially estimated at ₹564 crore, has undergone multiple revisions, leading to a significant cost escalation. The updated budget now stands at ₹731.37 crore, an increase of ₹167.37 crore.

These decisions were approved by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) standing committee during a recent meeting. According to AMC officials, the rise in expenditures is mainly due to design modifications and facility enhancements. The standing committee has sanctioned both the renaming proposal and the revised budget, ensuring the project aligns with the upgraded plans.
