Orange alert in Ahmedabad: IMD predicts temperatures up to 43°C from Wednesday

Six Gujarat cities reported temperatures above 41°C on Monday.

After Ahmedabad reported temperatures up to 41°C on Monday, and as the IMD predicted temperatures highs of 43°C between May 10 and May 12, the AMC has issued an orange alert in Ahmedabad. Apart from Ahmedabad, five other Gujarat districts reported temperatures of 41°C on Monday while Surendranagar recorded the highest temperatures in the state, at 42°C.

Minimum temperatures in Ahmedabad predicted to be as high as 28°C

Further, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted minimum temperatures in Ahmedabad to reach as high as 28°C leading up to the weekend. In view of the rising mercury, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has also issued an advisory under its heat wave action plan.

Other regions in Gujarat also experienced blistering heat on Monday including Rajkot (41.7°C), Gandhinagar (41.4°C), Vadodara (40.2°C) and Deesa (40.5°C), among others. Minimum temperatures in these districts also hovered between 24°C and 28°C.
