Starting from the 1st of January 2025, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has mandated the registration of pet dogs while giving pet owners a 90-day window to comply. This initiative follows the guidelines of the Supreme Court, the Animal Welfare Board of India, the Union Government’s Animal Birth Control (ABC) Dogs Rules-2023, and the National Action Plan for Dog Mediated Rabies Elimination (NAPRE) 2030.

Pet owners must complete the registration process online via AMC’s official website, where they will be required to provide relevant details and upload necessary documents. A nominal fee of ₹200 per dog will be applicable. The initiative ensures proper monitoring and management of the pet population while contributing to public health and animal welfare.

To assist citizens, AMC has set up a helpdesk at the CNCD Department located in the Central Store, opposite Jamalpur Jagannath Temple. Pet owners can contact the superintendent or veterinary doctor for guidance.
