Relief in sight for Ahmedabad-Saurashtra commuters as highway expansion resumes progress

Sanathal Junction congestion to ease as AMC and NHAI settle land dispute.

Zeal Jani

Commuters facing traffic jams at Sanathal Junction between Ahmedabad and Saurashtra will soon breathe a sigh of relief. The long-delayed expansion of the Ahmedabad-Bavla-Bagodara National Highway is now back on track, following the resolution of a prolonged land dispute between the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

A breakthrough was achieved when AMC transferred 20,958 square meters of land from two service roads under its TP schemes to NHAI. This crucial move is expected to significantly ease congestion on the highway.

The highway expansion, which will widen the section from Ujala Circle to Navapura in Sarkhej from 45 meters to 70 meters, is set to include new service lanes and an extradosed bridge. These additions aim to alleviate traffic bottlenecks that have plagued the route for the thousands of commuters who rely on this crucial stretch of road daily.
