Sarangpur Bridge near Kalupur Railway Station in Ahmedabad will be closed to traffic from the 2nd of January, 2025, until the 30th of June, 2026, as part of a major infrastructure project. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Indian Railways will jointly replace the existing bridge with a new structure, as part of a ₹439 crore redevelopment plan for both Sarangpur and Kalupur Bridges.

As per the notification from the City Police Commissioner, the bridge will remain closed 24 hours a day for the next 18 months.

To mitigate congestion, diversions will be put in place, with commuters directed to use the Kalupur Overbridge and Anupam-Khokhra Overbridge as alternative routes. These diversions are intended to manage the additional traffic and ensure smoother movement during the construction period. This project is part of the ongoing redevelopment of Kalupur Railway Station, which aims to enhance the city’s infrastructure.
