The first edition of the Ahmedabad International Book Festival (AIBF) is all set to begin on the 30th of November at the Sabarmati Riverfront Event Centre. Organised by the National Book Trust (NBT), under the Union Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the nine-day event will run until the 8th of December.
Building on the success of the Amdavad National Book Fair and inspired by the Vanche Gujarat reading initiative, this festival aspires to position Ahmedabad as a global literary hub.
With exhibitors and speakers from across India and the world, AIBF 2024 promises to be a grand celebration of books, knowledge, and cultural exchange.
The festival will feature 340 book stalls spread across a sprawling 325,000 square feet, making it one of the largest book fairs in the country. Over 147 exhibitors from 13 states, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, will showcase a vast collection of literature, ranging from fiction and non-fiction to academic and children’s books.
Renowned publishers like Rajkamal Prakashan, Jaico Publishing House, Pan Macmillan India, and Niyogi Books will be present, offering a diverse selection for book lovers. The event will also feature stalls from cultural institutions such as Sahitya Akademi and Sangeet Natak Akademi.
AIBF 2024 goes beyond books to offer a vibrant cultural experience. The Rangmanch stage will host a variety of performances, including the captivating Kijote Kathakali, a Spanish adaptation of Cervantes’ Don Quijote, and a soulful musical showcase by Ahmedabad-based Mukt Band.
The Culinary Literature Stage will blend food and storytelling, while the Children’s Pavilion, Pragya Shivir, will feature engaging workshops and sessions like Science Magic and Tales from the Forest.
In a unique collaboration with the Ahmedabad International Children’s Film Festival, screenings of award-winning films such as Masti Ni Pathshala and Felix the Fox will add a cinematic touch to the festival. With its blend of literature, art, and culture, AIBF 2024 promises an immersive experience for readers, writers, and art enthusiasts alike.
