The IMD has issued a yellow grade alert in Goa from October 7 to 9, in line with the forecasts of thunderstorms, lightning and heavy bouts of isolates showers. As per reports, the nimbus cover is expected to grip Goa in the coming days, bringing squally weather to the state, shoreline and the adjoining sea.

"Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at a few places over North and South Goa districts on October 7 and 8 and at isolated places on October 9. Heavy rainfall is very likely at a few places & at isolated places over North and South Goa on October 7 and 8, respectively.", tweeted the IMD. The downpour may exceed the 6 cm mark in a few regions as well.

The agency has tracked the squally conditions to three active weather systems in the country, including cyclonic disturbances and low-pressure regions. The erratic weather spell will extend through the week, bringing heavy isolated showers in some part of the state, characterised by lightning and thunderstorms. It may be noted that the weather will become stable after October 10, even as the rains persist.
