Goa Electricity Department offers rebate on electricity bills to domestic consumers

Sagar Purswani

With an aim to encourage people to use digital modes of payment and ensure timely payments of electricity bills, the Goa electricity department has started offering rebates on early payments and payments made via digital means. These rebates have some terms and conditions, which you should be privy to. Here's what you need to know about paying electricity bills in Goa.

Promoting digital mode of payment

As per official reports, domestic consumers can avail of a rebate of 1.25% if they pay bills online and seven days prior to the due date. The move will not only benefit users, but will also help the state electricity department to clear its records in time. Digital payments help the department to log all the revenue collected easily and quickly.

Reportedly, the department offers a 0.25% discount for bill payments made seven days in advance of the due date to all domestic consumers. However, the additional 1% rebate is available only when the bill is paid via digital means and seven days prior to the due date. This rebate is only available for low-tension domestic, low-income groups and agriculture (pump set and irrigation) consumers.

Other than UPI, netbanking and cards, one can also use state electricity department's official website for online payments.
