As of now, the coastal state has already clocked in 100% coverage of the primary vaccine shot. While addressing a gathering at Margao on Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant encouraged people to get vax-ed timely and help the state achieve its vision. As of now, a total of about 16,61,677 COVID jabs have been administered in the state, including 11,83,247 first doses and 4,78,430 second doses. With this tally, the state has achieved about 100% coverage of the first jab and 40% coverage of the second dose.

It may be noted that around 60,91,218 jabs were administered in the state on Thursday. Reportedly, these figures hold ground despite 20% of the populace not stepping up to take the second shot, even after the completion of the stipulated time gap between the two doses.

The CM has requested people to not their guard down even though the state has prepared the healthcare infrastructure to combat the third wave. "We have to maintain Covid protocol while celebrating the Ganesh festival. The cases are increasing in our neighbouring states like Kerala and Maharashtra. We are very much in control. We have completed 100 per cent first dose vaccination in Goa. We are targeting 100 per cent of the second dose by October 31," the CM said in a statement on Thursday.
