If the modern escapades of Goa leave you thrilled, the bountiful cultural heritage of this coastal state will definitely take you by surprise! One amongst these is the annual festival 'Kelyanchi Zantra', which began this year on March 3 and will go on till March 9. The festival transforms the Khobrawaddo village into a bouquet of myriad varieties of bananas. Flocked by locals and tourists, the temple with its surprising rituals captivates all its visitors. As a part of the interesting festivities, the devotees present bunches of bananas to the temple deity as a sacramental offering. Later, these banana stocks are given out to the public through an auctioning process. These stocks are arranged into adorable canopies that beautify the temple boundaries. Given the crowds and cheer marking the event, the fair draws in remarkable attention.

As per reports, the authorities are planning to revamp the old temple site into a new and renovated structure. Reportedly, with plans underway, the construction work of the complex shall begin soon after the festival concludes. Additionally, reports state that the tourism authorities are attempting to highlight this festival to usher in a greater number of tourists in future years.

Enveloped amidst humongous zeal and festive fervour, Calangute has evolved into a bustling hub of devotees through the past week. Along with the enchanting visuals presented by this festival, we are in awe of the magical fusion of culture and spirituality that it concocts! Given that the festival concludes tomorrow, this is the right time to plan a visit if you happen to be in the state.
