Marking the twin celebrations of India's presidency at G20 Summit 2023 and the country's rapid growth in mobile payments in the recent past, Paytm has come up with a special G20 theme QR code. The said QR code was launched at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, during the "Digital Payments Utsav" on Friday, February 10.

In the spirit of global economic cooperation

The commemorative Paytm QR code, which was launched by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways and IT, features a welcome message for G20 delegates along with logos of the "DigiDhan Mission", G20 Summit and India's 75th year of independence.

Speaking at the launch, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma said "Financial inclusion is at the heart of G20 that resonates with our mission to bring half a billion Indians into the mainstream economy with our innovative payments solution."

Commenting on Paytm's decision to launch the special QR code, he further added that the "G20-theme QR Code is dedicated to India's presidency of the premium forum for international economic cooperation, which is a landmark moment for the country".

India's rapid growth towards digital payments

When digital payments began in India in 2016, people didn't immediately latch on to the idea. But the number of yearly mobile payments shot up after 2020. Today, Indians prefer digital payments for even the smallest amounts. In fact, according to a CLSA report, the value of mobile payments in India is expected to reach $1 trillion by fiscal year 2026. The special Paytm QR code is also a nod towards India's quick rise in digital transactions.
