India announces squad for FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, 2022

A 21-member strong Indian U-17 national women's squad was revealed for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022.

India being a first time participant in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, 2022, has officially announced it’s 21 member squad. Scheduled to be held at stadiums in Bhubaneshwar, Goa and Navi Mumbai from October 11-30, tournament will further the impact of football in the Indian sports scenario. The Indian football team will be headed by Swedish coach Thomas Dennerby.

Final list of FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Team 

Placed in Group A of the tournament, the Indian Football Team is expected to play with confidence and without any pressure. Having spent umpteen hours practicing on field and pushing their athletic capabilities to the max, the following players have been selected as a part of Indian U-17 WWC Team. 

Goalkeepers: Monalisha Devi Moirangthem, Melody Chanu Keisham, and Anjali Munda

Defenders: Astam Oraon, Kajal, Naketa, Purnima Kumari, Varshika, and Shilky Devi Hemam

Midfielders: Babina Devi Lisham, Nitu Linda, Shailja, and Shubhangi Singh

Forwards: Anita Kumari, Lynda Kom Serto, Neha, Rejiya Devi Laishram, Sheila Devi Loktongbam, Kajol Hubert Dsouza, Lavanya Upadhyay, and Sudha Ankita Tirkey

India have never played the FIFA World Cup before. It's a unique chance to show everyone that we have prepared well and will not allow anyone to run over us. Everyone wants to play the World Cup, but I can only select the best 21 in the squad.

India was picked in Group A of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022:

October 11: India vs. USA (8 pm IST, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar).
October 14: India vs. Morocco (8 pm IST, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar).
October 17: India vs. Brazil (8 pm IST, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar).
