IPL 2024 hits it out of the park with record-breaking 168 million unique TV viewers on Day 1

TV viewership on Day 1 also touched the peak of 61 million concurrent viewers.

The Indian Premier League has yet again smashed the streaming and viewership records on the very first day of this year's edition. The opening game of IPL 2024, played between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, registered a record-breaking 168 million unique TV viewers and a watch-time of 12.76 billion minutes. Per an official statement by Disney Star, the official broadcast partner, this is the "highest-ever watch time for a single game during the opening day."

JioCinema, the official IPL streaming partner, further stated that 113 million people logged on to its platform, on the IPL opening day. On the streaming front, these numbers were a 51% increase in the number of viewers on the opening day, when compared to the previous edition. Meanwhile, TV viewership on Day 1 also touched the peak of 61 million concurrent viewers.
