It went down in golden letters in the pages of Indian history the moment Under-19 Indian Women's Cricket team bagged that inaugural World Cup on January 29, 2023. Emerging victorious at Senwes Park stadium in South Africa, Team India defeated England at the T20 World Cup final.

With this, they became the first Indian women's cricket team to clinch a world championship. Winning by 7 wickets, the U-19 Women's T20 World Cup Final win was smooth and flawless. The able captaincy of Shefali Verma, the brilliant bowling performance of the women and certain stellar fielding moments, all culminated in the huge victory.

The young blood win is being extolled and talked about throughout the world and numerous veterans and high-level officials congratulated the team for lifting the prestigious cup and on creating history. To honour the win, BCCI also announced a ₹5 crore reward for the team.
