A grand ceremony for the inauguration of Hubballi Railway Station in Karnataka was held earlier this week, in the presence of the Indian PM and other dignitaries. Alongside this, platform number 8 of the station, measuring 1,507m, has also bagged the title of the world's longest platform under the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Hubballi subdivision serves as a major commercial hub of Karnataka. Owing to the growing transportation needs, the railway station has been remodelled. Under this, 3 new platforms have been added to the existing 5, which have now become operational.

Additionally, two trains will be able to ply from either of the directions, simultaneously via platform no. 8 of the Hubballi station.
