Pilgrimage cost cut by ₹50,000; new perks announced with revised Haj Policy

In a bid to facilitate and assist the Haj pilgrims efficiently, the Ministry of Minority Affairs under the central government has now rolled out the revised Haj Policy with significant modifications and perks.

Under the newly implemented Haj Policy 2023, application forms will now be free for pilgrims applying for the 1st time. With this, Haj package costs have been reduced by approx. Rs. 50,000 for the pilgrims who will register via Haj Committee of India.

What are the additional provisions?

Other provisions which have been added to the Haj Policy 2023 include:

  • The number of embarkation (boarding) points have been increased to 25 from 10.

  • Ladies above the age of 45 years will be allowed to go for pilgrimage without a male companion 'mehram'.

  • Under the policy, 80% of the pilgrims will be provided the facility to register for the pilgrimage via Haj committe while 20% will travel via private tour operators.

  • Pilgrims won't be required to pay additional charges for carrying their belongings to the Haj committee.
