Boosting space tech education in India, IIT Indore to launch BTech in Space Science and Engineering

The admittance for the program will also be done via the JEE advanced entrance exam.

In recent years, India has made significant progress in the aerospace sector, with numerous successful satellite launches and ambitious programs such as the Mangalyaan mission to Mars among others. The achievements have gained worldwide recognition and acclaim for India's space projects.

In a significant move towards advancing space science and technology education in India, IIT Indore will now offer a dedicated B.Tech program in Space Science and Engineering for the 2023 session. The admittance for the program will also be done via the JEE advanced entrance exam.

The institute will admit 20 pupils per batch for the program

The B.Tech course in Space Science and Engineering will be a four-year program aiming to impart knowledge and skills in diverse fields related to space science and technology such as astronomy, space systems engineering, satellite technology and astrophysics.

At launch, a total of 20 seats will be dedicated per batch for the program by the Department of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Engineering (DAASE), IIT Indore.

Furthermore, along with the introduction of the program, the Indian Institute of Technology Indore has become the first IIT to offer a dedicated engineering degree in the field.
