The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has instructed schools to assign students summer homework on the theme of tourism. The step is being taken to incorporate practical learning into the children’s education. Projects on tourism are also intended to make summer vacations more fun for the students. It would let them explore sustainable tourism, ways of promotion, photography, videography, and more.

Yuva Tourism Clubs to give the country young ambassadors of tourism

CBSE has also instructed affiliated schools to implement the Union Ministry of Tourism’s Yuva Tourism Club initiative. In compliance with the initiative, many CBSE schools in the city have already formed tourism clubs. Just like homework assignments on the subject, the clubs will allow students to get practical experience-based learning.

Officials believe that the initiative will result in creating many young ambassadors of tourism in the country. The initiative is aimed at educating children about their country’s culture, invoking a passion for tourism and promoting sustainable means of travel.

The students are also expected to come up with possibilities to make tourism more prominent and sustainable. To do so, various other clubs can integrate with the Tourism Club. Environment clubs can come together with tourism clubs to devise eco-friendly tourism options. Similarly, students in photography clubs can also participate for driving awareness programmes.

Schools in favour of practical learning

According to school principals and other officials, it will give them more than just books to learn from. Schools also believe that the tourism industry offers many career opportunities for different age groups that the students can explore.

The summer projects assigned to the students will help them understand the operations of the tourism industry, providing them with the knowledge of promotion, management and the business aspect of the sector.
