IIT Indore signs MoU with IIFM Bhopal to increase technological intervention

The collaboration will carry out consulting assignments, joint research projects, training programmes and more.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indore inked an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal last week. The intention of this collaboration is to bring technological intervention in areas of mutual interest. The institutes will work together to employ tech in the fields of natural resource management, eco-tourism, sustainability, forests, agroforestry, rural development, climate change, and other related fields.

Setting up of sustainability centre

In an attempt to achieve the goal of advancing technological interventions, institutes will together carry out consulting assignments, joint research projects, training programmes and more. Officials and faculties from both IIT and IIFM are also considering starting a sustainability centre for eco-tourism and agroforestry.

On the other hand, IIFM representatives visited the forest areas of the IIT Indore campus and offered help develop it. The development of forest will include, creation of man-made water bodies, planting trees for setting up a city forest, mechanism for controlling forest fires and increase commercial plantation.
