A ban has been imposed on the movement of heavy vehicles on Khandwa Road during the Shravan month to make way for Kawad Yatris. The ban will remain in place from 8 AM to 9 PM. The decision to restrict the movement was taken on Tuesday by the District administration. These vehicles will be able to go towards Sanawad via AB Road.

Every year during the monsoon season, a large number of Kawad Yatris embark on this journey from the city to the Omkareshwar and vice-versa.

There will be no restrictions on select vehicles

The administration has addressed that certain vehicles, such as ambulances, those involved in the transport of items such as milk and vegetables, police vehicles, fire trucks, water tankers, arms tankers, electricity board operations, LPG and other petroleum products and those carrying agricultural produce will not be subjected to any ban. Additionally, the vehicles such as passenger buses, cars, jeeps, and two-wheelers will also continue to operate without any restrictions.

The decision to restrict the movement is taken to safeguard the interest of these pilgrims and other users of the road. This balanced approach has been taken to ensure public safety and maintain the smooth functioning of essential services and daily commuting needs.
