IIT-Indore to assist MSMEs in digital transformation by enhanced production & loss cutting

Somya Agarwal

In a mission to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) adopt digital technology, up-scale manpower, and provide custom solutions to modern problems, IIT-Indore will now assist them to go digital. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore will further provide aid to enhance production and cut down on losses for MSMEs.

IIT-Indore x DRISHTI CPS Foundation

IIT-I, through its DRISHTI CPS Foundation, has formed Technology Innovation Hub for CPS design, modelling and applications, which will work with MSMEs to identify requirements for digitalisation and provide relevant solutions. Additionally, the institute held multiple rounds of discussion with different industrial sectors to identify their issues in adopting digital applications and smart solutions to revive businesses.

Through this research, IIT-I was able to figure out that MSMEs in digital transformation lack knowledge about the technology available, trained manpower and customised solutions for logistics and transport management and inventory management.

IIT-I plans to approach these issues with constant and incremental digital transformation to ultimately lead to high-quality processes thus reducing wastage. Reduction in wastage will help serve the Indian government’s vision of Zero Defect Zero Effect.
