Recently, the city’s administration and the civic body have made numerous attempts to promote sports and physical activities like upgrading local parks, jogging tracks, open gyms, organising morning Raahgiri (a fete for cyclers, joggers, and walkers that includes group activities like Zumba), etc. In an attempt to further the citizens’ interest in sports, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) will now come up with a new sports complex in Vaibhav Nagar. As per the reports, similar sports complexes will be constructed in each constituency of the city.

Vaibhav Nagar sports complex to cost ₹8.5 crores

As of now, a budget of ₹8.5 crores has been decided upon for the upcoming sports complex in Vaibhav Nagar. IMC Commissioner shared with the media that tenders for the construction of this complex will be issued soon.

The new sports complex will be equipped with arenas for various sports like tennis and badminton including a swimming pool. It is expected that the sports complex will cater to the area of 4 to 5 wards. The operation and maintenance of the sports complex will be looked after by local committees that are yet to be made.

Other projects in Vaibhav Nagar

In addition to the sports complex, the corporation will also work towards developing the community hall that was recently freed from encroachments. Officials also expect the locals to install rainwater harvesting systems in both personal and commercial establishments. They have been instructed to accomplish this by June 30.
