IND vs AUS 3rd Test | Pitch report and a look at the stats ahead of showdown at Indore Stadium

Aditya Vikram

Indore's Holkar Stadium is all set to host the 3rd test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy between India and Australia. The men in blue are leading the 4-match series 2-0, and the Aussies are expected to throw everything at this one, making it a mouthwatering prospect for fans of the test match format of cricket. The match is set to take place in Indore between March 01 to March 05.

What does the pitch look like?

Going by the pictures of the pitch, as tweeted by the official twitter handle of Cricket Australia, the surface looks fairly dry with a sizeable green patch in the center. But if the past is anything to go by, we mustn't get fooled by that patch, and expect very little in the way of help for seamers. Being a dry wicket, Indian spinners can expect to assert their dominance again, as they did in the first two test matches.

What do the Holkar Stadium's records say?

Going by the past records, the 3rd test in Indore promises to be a relatively high-scoring affair with the average first innings score in the couple of tests played here standing at 353. In fact, Indore's Holkar stadium has previously turned out to be a happy hunting ground for Indian talisman Virat Kohli, who scored a spectacular 211 in a test against New Zealand at the venue in 2016.

The same can be said for Ravichandran Ashwin, who bagged a total of 13 wickets in the 2016 game against New Zealand at the Holkar Stadium. What will this test hold for the men in blue?

Will the Aussies breathe back life into the series with a comeback? We hope you've booked your tickets for the 3rd test in Indore to watch it all unfold.
