Indore could witness light to moderate rainfall at isolated places

This will be the third longest monsoon period for Madhya Pradesh.

After a brief 3-month monsoon spell in Madhya Pradesh, rains will likely hit different parts of the state until October 15 once more. As per the advisory issued by IMD, a yellow alert has been issued for 21 districts including Bhopal, Indore, Sagar, Rewa and Satna, among others.

Reportedly, light to moderate rainfall is expected at isolated places in Indore and other districts. This will be the third extended monsoon period for Madhya Pradesh.

Monsoon kicks back on Dussehra

Since July, Madhya Pradesh recorded an average rainfall of 48-inches, which is the highest for the state, as the previous year's average recorded rainfall was 38-inches. Reportedly, the re-emergence of monsoon winds is due to the generation of a low-pressure area over the west-central Bay of Bengal. The winds are expected to move west-northwestwards towards the Andhra Pradesh coast in the next 2 days.

The new monsoon winds are expected to cause fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with heavy isolated falls over the east Madhya Pradesh region between 5 and 7th October and northwest Madhya Pradesh region between 6th and 7th October.

With Dussehra celebrations ongoing, isolated showers, coupled with thunderstorms in Indore and nearby regions are expected to halt city life.

Additionally, IMD also issued a warning, asking the citizens to check for traffic congestion on their route, follow any traffic advisories that are being issued in this regard, avoid visits to areas that face water logging problems and avoid staying in vulnerable structures.
