Indore Metro Update: Underground station to come up in Municipal Corporation headquarters

Aditya Vikram

Plans are underway to build underground metro line in Indore from the Regal intersection to Gandhi Nagar. This Indore metro line will be 9 kilometers long, with 7 stations on the route. And one of the stations on the line, which will be an underground station, is coming up on the premises of Indore Municipal Corporation headquarters.

The underground station will be named 'Rajwada Station'

Due to the proposed metro station being built in IMC headquarters, those travelling to Indore's Rajwada will have to get down at this station. According to the proposal, the underground station will come up near the parking shed of the Sulabh Complex in the premises of the headquarters.

Furthermore, the said Indore metro underground station will be called the Rajwada station. To build the station from scratch, some buildings on the premises that have been left unused will have to be removed.

The reason why Indore metro's Rajwada station is being built on IMC headquarters (at a distance of 650 meters from Rajwada) is because no construction is allowed within 300 meters of a heritage site (Indore's Rajwada), according to Archeological Department regulations.
