The Twitter handle of the MP Chief Minister on Friday announced ease of all COVID restrictions in MP. “All social/ business/ cultural/ political/ religious/ entertainment/ sports events including fairs can be organised in full capacity. All schools, colleges and hostels will be open and operational at full capacity as well. There will be no restrictions on the number of people attending weddings and funerals”, read another tweet.

Although there was no lockdown when the third (Omicron) wave peaked in January, all public events were being held at a 50% capacity. Schools and gyms were also shut across the state.

Despite the new relaxations, the CM cautioned that the risk of infection has not evaded completely and hence, night curfew (from 11 pm to 5 am) will still be in place. Subsequently, he has urged the public to keep using face masks and following COVID appropriate behaviour.

As of Friday, Madhya Pradesh's COVID caseload stands at 10,21,361 cases. This tally marks a 3.4% positivity rate in the state, marginally down from 3.67% the day before.
