Going by reports, the Minister of Union Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri will confer the award to IMC Commissioner Pratibha Pal at the UMI Convention, slated on October 29 in Delhi. This national grade event will hoist Indore's innovation and technological skills in India, bringing glory to the city and its civic setup.

As informed by IMC Commissioner Pal, the Atal Indore City Transport Services Ltd adopted an innovative business model to induct novelty with 100 CNG-run buses in its transport system mesh and take a 'green' step towards environmental protection. This fleet has been running successfully in Indore for several years and presently includes 30 BRTS-I buses and 70 city buses.

Apart from this, 12 BCNG buses are also operational in Indore and plans are underway to commission another 400 buses in the coming days. Besides this, 40 e-buses are also plying in the city. These are zero-pollution, hi-tech buses that further aim to progress the idea of eco-friendly and sustainable development.

Indore City Bus Management has 540 vehicles under its helm

The legacy of Indore's public transport system is dated as old as 26 January 2006 when 40 buses were started here in Public-Private Partnership. Notably, it was the first time in India when this large fleet was green flagged for public use. Keeping up with feat for 15 years, the city bus management has now grown to include 540 vehicles under its helm, added reports. Of this, 380 buses are run within the city, while the remaining 160 shuttle passengers to and fro from Indore.
