A joint team of District Administration, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) and Police launched an all-new ‘Anti-Gunda’ drive in the city on Wednesday, in a bid to take down the illegal constructions in the city. The Police enforcement and state administration collaborated to draft a roadmap for the new drive, which kickstarted operations yesterday, demolishing three criminal structures!
Removal Gang at work!
On Tuesday, the District Collector had announced that Indore’s Anti Gunda drive will soon start its functions, however, the unprecedented promptness of this outfit caught the city’s illicit structures by surprise. Just a day after the Collectors announcement, the Anti-Gunda drive flattened three constructions, belonging to notorious criminals in Indore.
Equipped with two JCB trucks and one Poclain machine, IMC’s removal gang along with police personnel initiated the drive from Sant Ravidas Marg in Ranipura area. Here, the party demolished three shops in a residential building built over a 1500 square feet plot owned by Sajid Chandanwala.
After that, two illegal shops and a godown built on a 21 square feet plot were taken down at Patti Bazaar area in Ranipura. The removal gang then knocked down another residential building on 600 square feet plot in Ward No 1, owned by Jitendra alias Nanu Tayde. Additional municipal commissioner of Indore further stated that the district administration, IMC and police are preparing a list of infamous criminals whose illegal structures will be then targeted and razed by the removal gang.
Earlier this year, in January, Indore administration had started a similar campaign, called the Anti Mafia Drive. This force also targeted illicit constructions on government properties by land mafias and sharks. This drive too, flattened illegal structures with the help of the civic body’s removal team.
