The project to increase the number of electric buses in Indore has been in the pipeline for a while. Adding to the same, new e-buses will now operate on the Indore Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) route. The 11.5 km-long route, running from Rajiv Gandhi Square to Dewas Naka, will see e-buses ferrying passengers soon.

At the moment, only CNG and diesel buses use the route. These will soon be replaced by e-buses, keeping their environment-friendly characteristics in mind. The buses, arriving from Trichy in Tamil Nadu, have begun reaching Indore. Its first e-bus, worth ₹1.5 crore, has arrived in the city and will be flagged off on BRTS soon.
