Knocksense Shorts | IMD issued Orange alert for Indore on Tuesday; heavy rains expected till July 16

The Meteorological Department issued an orange alert on Tuesday, predicting heavy rainfall in Indore until July 16th. A lot of places in the city faced problems of waterlogging, affected regions include some areas of Vandana Nagar, Bengali Colony, Bhagirathpura, Navlakha, and Rajendra Nagar.

According to the MeT Department, a low-pressure building over Odisha in the Bay of Bengal may result in heavy rainfall in the city within the next 24 hours. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rains on Wednesday are also very likely. Reportedly, Indore received 219.9 mm rainfall until July 10, marking a 5% hike from its average rainfall. The IMD report also highlighted a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain for the next two days.

These weather conditions resulted in a significant drop in the temperature on Tuesday. The maximum temperature was recorded at 19˚C which is 7˚C below the average temperature of 26˚C. The humidity on Tuesday morning was 92%, however, it decreased to 44% in the afternoon, and took a U-turn in the evening and reached 94%.
