Knocksense Shorts | Indore Zoo to house Zebras? Animal exchange programme underway

Khushbu Kirti

Indorians, gear up to see magnificent black-and-white-striped beasts at your city zoo soon! African zebras, under the animal exchange programme for zoos in Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru, will be arriving at Indore Zoo soon.

A proposal, that includes more animals like lions, tigers, jackals, among others, has been initiated by the Indore Zoo management. Earlier, 2021 saw a similar proposal for a pair of African Zebras that had to be transported from Mumbai's Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Zoo to the Indore facility. However, the plan could not be implemented due to the COVID pandemic.

The Indore Zoo engulfs a diverse range of biodiversity with above 1,300 wild animals in its embrace, and with this step, the city will be the first in Madhya Pradesh to be a home for zebras.
