In order to avoid traffic congestion on the MR-10, the toll operator of MR-10 toll plaza will not charge a toll tax from private vehicles from the MP-09 series. As per the officials, vehicle owners will have to register with the toll plaza to avail the exemption. Those who successfully register will no longer have to pay the toll tax even if they are registered with the FASTag portal. The registration process for the same has also been made free of cost.

Portal to be updated to provide free passage to private vehicles

Once the registration is done, the vehicle will be listed under the ‘Free of Cost’ category on the FASTag portal within 24 hours. Officials have informed that they have received more than 100 registration requests so far. As per the reports, around 1000 vehicles pass the MR-10 toll booth on a daily basis. Considering the numbers, more registrations are expected in the coming days.

The administration and the toll company discussed the exemption earlier. Following the discussion, it was determined that the portal will also need to be upgraded to enlist commuters and their vehicles under the ‘Free of Cost’ category. The required changes are currently in progress. The officials also informed that commercial vehicles in the MP-09 series will be required to pay the toll tax as usual.
