The Rajasthan government has imposed a night curfew in the state from 8 pm on December 31 to 6 am on January 1. The reason for the move is to curb the ever-increasing spread of the COVID-19 virus in the state. Along with that, the authorities have also imposed a ban on firecrackers and, of course, new year's eve parties.

All cities in Rajasthan, with a population of more than a lakh, will have to follow these new orders. The move to impose a night curfew comes after a slight surge in COVID-19 cases in the state. This means that on New Year's Eve, there will be no late-night parties and no fireworks.

Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot appealed to people to celebrate the New Year at home and to avoid bursting firecrackers or outdoor gatherings. Coronavirus cases in the state have crossed the 3 lakh mark and currently, there are 11,648 active cases. On a more positive note, the number of active COVID cases per day has gone below 1,000 in the state and the recovery rate stands at 95%.
